Welcome to this short online course all out CIT’s new Virtual Learning Environment, Canvas. The following pages contain all the essentials you need to know to get started with Canvas and also offer some additional media and links to help you find out more about the new system. Canvas @ CIT

This semester Canvas is being rolled out to about 2,000 students across the institute and will replace the Blackboard system for all modules and programmes in February 2019: in the meantime both systems are in use so you may find you need to use Canvas for one or two modules but Blackboard for the rest. We’ve taken a number of steps to make sure this doesn’t become too confusing including redirecting staff and students to Canvas for all relevant modules.

24/7 Support

CIT students have access to a 24/7 Tier 1 support service by Canvas. This service can be accessed, for the most part, from Canvas’ Help Menu which appears in the platform’s main menu.
